The paper examines a proposed relationship between leader behavior and two variables related to the contingency model. The variables of situational threat to the leader and the least preferred coworker LPC score interact in the predicted manner affecting the leaders orientation toward task and interpersonal situation, high LPC leaders are more interpersonally oriented while low LPC leaders are more task oriented.
