Abstract:

The WBGT Index has been widely accepted as a useful measure of thermal stress which, if correctly used, can significantly reduce the level of heat casualties in thermally dangerous situations. The WBGT Meter described has been shown to be reliable, easy to use and robust. It is accurate and, together with its ancillary probes, constitutes a comprehensive outfit for the investigation of a wide range of thermal environments, as well as having clinical applications. The instrument is relatively light and is ready for air transport at all times so that WBGT Meter may therefore be considered as an ideal piece of thermometric equipment for military use.
