A simplified method of calculating the parameters of detonation waves i.e., pressure, temperature, velocity, et al. is developed. The calculations were divided into two parts wherever possible the calculation of the thermodynamically equilibrium characteristics for a given temperature and pressure and the determination of the parameters of the detonation waves. The results of the calculation were compared with the results of experiments investigating detonation waves in acetylene. The difference between the two sets of results was probably related to incomplete heat liberation of carbon condensation, the loss of energy in the wave, etc. The diameter of the pipe in which the experiment is performed is another one of the factors which can affect the results of experiments.
