The flash distillation method provides in a concentrated form the nonvolatile components present in gasoline, diesel fuel and fuel oil. The concentrate is useful for more detailed analysis to determine the composition of the material. This method also demonstrates the relationship between the absorbance of diesel fuel in the visible region and the concentration of the heavy nonvolatile component in the fuel.
