The paper is concerned with human information processing capacities and limitations. The goal of the effort is the establishment of a test battery that can be used to evaluate performance in a wide variety of situations, and that can provide information concerning basic processing capacities. The basic strategy was to select experimental or research paradigms that have firm theoretical and empirical bases. Selected tasks were adapted to feasible formats and four small-scale experiments were performed to refine the paradigms of selected tasks. A final battery was then assembled, and a large-scale validation experiment was performed. Modified author abstract
