Abstract:

Field-plasma interactions were investigated in two areas the parametric excitation of ion-acoustic waves and the propagation of KVcm sub-nanosecond electric field pulses impulses along a plasma column. In the investigations of parametric excitation of ion acoustic waves, the authors center around both the above and below threshold conditions. The study of impulse propagation was studied using a high amplitude about 2KVcm fast about 200 ps pulse generator called bouncing ball generator BBG. BBG is a home made device. The observations were made with the aid of a sampling scope. The launching structure excites mostly a transient surface wave packet whose behavior was analyzed in detail theoretically.
