The ecology of the pomarine, parasitic, and long-tailed jaegers was studied in the summers of 1956 through 1960 in northern Alaska. The three jaegers differ in size, in their breeding ranges and in details of their breeding biology and population phenomena, but broad areas of similarity suggest that competition actually or potentially occurs among them.
