Abstract:
At the present time, cable inserts are widely used at hydroelectric power plants for connecting transformers to collecting bars. The capacitance of the cable promotes a reduction in overvoltages in the substation and with a definite cable length, subsequently called safe, the possibility arises of simplifying the lightning protection of a substation which does not have lightning arresters at the cable coupler terminals. The present work is devoted to determing the safe length of cable inserts for 110-220 kV substations.
