Abstract:
The objective of the program was to demonstrate the applicability of the Holloman test track for performing captive tests of a ramjet engine at realistic supersonic flight conditions and to provide sled design data for future sled-borne aero propulsion systems. This objective was achieved by designing a series of four track test systems to increasingly higher performance levels, the fourth of which culminated in propelling a structurally sound flight test missile payload to a sustained velocity in excess of 2600 ftsec for 3.6 seconds. The velocity profile is sufficient to proceed with ignition and testing of the payload ramjet engine. Author
