Fourier Analysis of Stratified Airflow over Mountains.

The Fourier analysis of the air flow over a mountain ridge in a channel bounded above and below by solid boundaries is performed in this report. The primary objective of this analysis is to provide initial data for the integration of ray equations in a ray theory for such linearized flows. The present analysis assumes a constant wind velocity profile and constant Brunt-Vaisala frequency distribution across the channel and the disturbances to the flow are treated in the small perturbation context. The linear equations which govern these small perturbations are Fourier analized and expressions for the perturbation flow velocity are then derived. Author
