Liquid Scintillation Counting of Neutron Activated Foils.

Aluminum, gold and copper foils were activated by a broad spectrum low intensity neutron beam. The foils were immersed in scintillating fluors and activity determinations were made using a coincident type photomultiplier system. The relative efficiencies for four counting geometries were considered and the most effective geometry was found to be with the foil to be placed in a horizontal position at mid-depth in the fluor. The relative effectiveness of different scientillation fluors varied according to the energy distribution of radiations being measured. Author
