An antigen has been extracted from T1 phase of Neisseria gonorrhoeae which has been characterized very crudely as a nucleoprotein. Preparations of this antigen were labeled biosynthetically with 14C and used in a radioassay for serodiagnosis of gonorrhea in humans. The results of the assays with this antigen may be summarized as follows 90 of male and 98 of female sera were correctly diagnosed as positive combined 93 correct 32 of male and 82 of female sera were correctly diagnosed as negative combined 60 correct 5 of male and 2.5 of female sera could not be assigned positive or negative values. Preliminary results with an 125I labeled gonococcal antigen were similar to those described above. Author
