Cathode-ray storage tubes CRST occupy an important position among electronic devices. The first chapter considers the main physical principles of signal recording on a CRST target and signal readout. The second chapter gives a quantitative analysis of the physical processes of recording and readout in different CRST operating modes. The third chapter considers the problem of noise and interference which occur in CRST during readout and which affect the output of the read signal. The fourth chapter presents the classification of CRST which have found practical application. The fifth chapter analyzes the properties of CRST as a component of the data processing device. In Chapters 6-8 the principles of constructing data processing devices based on CRST and the requirements placed on the tubes are considered.
