The evaluation was made to determine the suitability of the MIKE 55 Unit for Naval service and to determine its advantageous features. The apparatus was tested objectively by breathing machine depth tests with respiratory pressure instrumentation, and subjectively by depth swimming tests and swimming pool runs. Special pressure tests were made on the cylinders to establish a higher working pressure. Breathing machine tests results are summarized as graphs of peak respiratory pressure against depth. Depth swimming run results are summarized as graphs of carbon dioxide and oxygen levels. Swimming pool runs are summarized narratively. Cylinder pressure test results are tabulated. The results are discussed constructively and lead to specific conclusions about the apparatus and its suitability for Naval service. Modified author abstract
