The NEMO hull, a transparent, acrylic plastic pressure capsule has replaced the steel hull in the underwater exploration in 1956. An acrylic plastic hull has been fabricated and tested at the U.S. Naval Academys Laboratory for limited operations and with simpler process and it is a less expensive design. Eight preliminary 16-inch diameter test hemispheres were blown and measured to determine the validity of the method. This technical paper gives detailed information and data about the improved acrylic spheres fabrication and the technique of the process. Author
