The purpose of this research is a feasibility study of X-ray gaging for on line testing of shell cases for project SCAMP. The advantages and disadvantages of solid state X-ray gaging are qualitatively discussed and quantitatively weighed. It is concluded that solid state X-ray gaging of production line products at high speed is now coming into its own with the use of minicomputers and shows great promise for use on the SCAMP project.
