Abstract:

What impact will recent Thai political changes have on the formulation of United States foreign policy in Southeast Asia. The special United StatesThailand relationship which evolved during the 1960s is discussed. The October 1973 uprising is examined to determine its causative factors and the reasons for the students success. An analysis of several Thais expected to provide the countrys future leadership is then made along with a discussion of current problem areas confronting the Thai leaders. Major power interests and activities which bear directly on US foreign policy in Southeast Asia are then analyzed. Modified author abstract
