Abstract:
The report presents the best available information concerning the worldwide distribution of monthly precipitation amounts and rainfall intensities in order to provide an improved basis for the establishment of environmental criteria for the design and testing of Army Aviation VSTOL aircraft. The data are presented in a series of maps, including mean monthly precipitation for January, April, July, and October rainfall intensities equalled or exceeded 1.0, 0.5, and 0.1 of the time during January, April, July, and October in Eurasia and rainfall amounts for 30-minute and 60-minute durations with a 10-year return period in Canada. conterminous United States, the Hawaiian Islands, and Puerto Rico.
