The PPK-U is an integrated semiautomatic device designed to pull the ripcord on a parachute or other airborne rescue system. It can be set for altitudes of 0.3 to 8 km. and time delays of 0 to 5 sec. With a weight of 950 g., it is protected and sealed against environmental factors, and adaptable in six major variants for use with different types of equipment. Major parts include a clockwork timer, interlocking levers, an aneroid barometer, and a powerful spring-loaded ripcord mechanism with a 70 mm. pull. Author
