Abstract:
The research study provides an up-to-date account of methods of prediction of aerodynamic characteristics for both combat and transport aircraft excluding rotorcraft, over conditions ranging from low speeds CTOL, RTOL, STOL through subsonictransonic to supersonic speeds climb, cruise, maneuver, descent. Aircraft lift and drag estimation methods are analysed along with related aerodynamic optimization techniques, taking into account practical methods for wingbody aerodynamic design and boundary-layer flow treatments. The prediction and implications of special aerodynamic characteristics associated with engine installation and external store effects are examined, relevant stabilitycontrol needs are reviewed, and some aircraft noise restraints on aerodynamic design are noted.
