Abstract:
The paper provides underlying sets of assumptions and rigorous derivations of certain static combat attrition processes. Considered are a homogeneous point fire process, a heterogeneous point fire process, and an area fire process. Each set of assumptions is complete, concise, unambiguous, and as general--both mathematically and in terms of physical interpretation--as possible. Some attention is also devoted to various approximations and computational simplifications of the models presented.
