Abstract:

Results from hot wire measurements in a plane incompressible jet are reported. The flow was found to be self preserving at distances greater than 40 diameters and measurements were made beyond 120 diameters. The quantities measured include mean velocities, turbulence intensities, third and fourth order terms, as well as two point correlations and intermittency. Conditional sampling techniques were used to obtain data exclusively with the turbulent zone of the jet. The results are compared with previous investigations. This is a third paper in a sequel which provides data on turbulent free shear flows. Author
