The results of joint radarsatellite experiments at Chatanika, Alaska are reported. Two types of experiments are described 1 simultaneous observation of electron-density profiles obtained by incoherent-scatter and topside-sounding techniques, and comparison of the two sets of results and 2 measurement of electron density and energetic particle flux, and the combination of these measurements to obtain profiles of effective recombination coefficient. The latter experiment 2 has been completed and is described in some detail. Values of effective recombination coefficient obtained by this technique compare favorably with results reported elsewhere.
