Abstract:
A digital computer program is described which has been used to design an ejection seat system for escape from aircraft in both VTOL and high speed flight regimes. The program generates and plots time histories of the dynamics of a variety of escape seat system designs responding to a typical fighterclose support VTOL aircraft reacting to a selected spectrum of deterministic failure modes. The six degree-of-freedom non-linear equations are integrated numerically and system coefficients are computed by table-look-up and curve-fitting options. Trajectory dynamics are computed for the seat as it is catapulted along a set of flexible rails constrained to translate with the aircraft. Modified author abstract
