One route for the appearance of antibiotic-resistant forms of bacteria is transformation. The literature contains many data on the transformation of microorganism which are sensitive to antibiotics into antibiotic-resistant forms by means of DNA separated from antibiotic-resistant strains Streptococcus, Pneumococcus, etc.. The authors studied the possibility of transformation of resistance to streptomycin in Salmonella gertneri by DNA separated by the Marmur method from the streptomycin-resistant strain Salm. gertneri No. 11 donor. The strain Salm. gertneri No. 1, sensitive to streptomycin, was used as the recipient.
