The report describes an empirical-analytical investigation to determine the feasibility of applying an evaporative technique to the in-situ detection of oil slicks on natural waters. Extensive measurement data are presented and analysed in order to establish valid estimates of slick detection, classification, and quantification performance achievable with this technique.
