Abstract:

Harmful absorptions of color negatives can be masked by treatment with 1,2-disubstituted 4-amino-5-pyrazolones I in the presence of oxidizing agents II. The mechanism has been studied for a number of stabilizers, using 4-aminoantipyrine AP as I and potassium ferricyanide as II. The best results are obtained by processing with 2.5 AP solution as I containing 1 NaOH 9pH 9-9.5 as II for 1 minute at 20C. This improves color reproduction by masking harmful zonal absorption of the cyan and magneta dyes, although reducing the contrast coefficients of the blue- and green-sensitive layers. Author
