Abstract:
Organizational development is an effort planned, organization-wide, and managed from the top to increase organizational effectiveness. It is an effective way to cope with the rapidly changing environment facing both the industrial and military community today. By use of a brief historical development of management theory coupled with the need for adapting to change and the knowledge based on five years of organizational development practice, an approach to determining whether organizational development can be used in the military is supplied. The authors conclusion is that organizational development can and should be adopted within the military establishment.
