Abstract:

Effectiveness of the naval work force is dependent in part on the motivation of its individual members to do a good job. A study was directed toward understanding what certain of the components of work motivation are. The primary concept involved the persons perceptions of the extent to which he feels in control of his environment internal view vs. feeling that events in his life are a result of forces beyond his control external view.
