Abstract:
Blast wave boundary layer development at the ground surface was measured at approximately the 60 psi and 30 psi shock overpressure stations during MIDDLE GUST Event IV 100-ton TNT surface-tangent sphere explosion, after an instrument checkout test at the 24 psi station on MIDDLE GUST III. Static pressure, pitot pressure, surface shear and flow temperature were measured to define the boundary layer over a clean hard surface. The dynamic measurements were made with rakes extending to 12 inches above the surface. In addition to defining the boundary layer, some of the data, specifically the inviscid flow uppermost measurements, are useful for comparison with two-dimensional computer code calculations of the airblast from 100-ton TNT surface-tangent explosions. One such comparison is made. Modified author abstract
