Abstract:

The fundamental theory underlying the use of membranes for vapor separation in trace gas detection is described, and an analysis of the membrane inlet system for the Universal Monitor Olfax instrument quadrupole mass spectroscopy is presented. The permeability of TNT vapors through the dimethyl silicone rubber membranes is determined. Other performance characteristics of the Olfax instrument are described. Modified author abstract
