Abstract:

Procedures for training dogs to detect explosives are described in detail. Food is used as the primary reinforcer to establish the desired behaviors rather than the traditional method fo praisepettingpuishment. Beginning with simple odor discrimination, the training progresses through easy stages to complex searchdetection in realistic settings. Concepts and strategies for conducting operational bomb searches in buildings are described.
