Abstract:

The report is a compilation of papers presented at the First Naval Ordnance Laboratory Conference on the Environmental Effects of Explosives and Explosions. The topics covered included the manufacture of explosives and weapons the testing and use of explosives in the air, ground, and water and the disposal of scraps, wastewater, and large items of obsolete ordnance. Physical, chemical, and biological effects of both nuclear and conventional explosions were treated.
