A series of experiments investigated several of the factors that contribute to the variability of simple motor responses. A second topic of investigation was the so-called temporal indifference interval. An experiment was conducted to find whether there exists a temporal interval of such duration that a human subject is no more likely to underestimate than to overestimate it. Several auditory, visual, and bisensory timing cues were developed and studied for effectiveness in reducing synchronization error. Several experiments were addressed to the question of how briefly-presented visual information is stored in short-term memory. One experiment dealt with the question of how people recognize highly familiar visual patterns. Modified author abstract
