An adjoint Monte Carlo calculation technique for the generation of neutron and gamma-ray radiation response functions in complex, three-dimensional geometries is presented in both general terms to allow an understanding of the method, and with enough calculational detail to apply the technique. The radiation response functions can be folded with any angle-dependent neutron and gamma-ray free field source and any neutron and gamma-ray response. Thus, missile vulnerability can be determined for any damage mechanism which can be expressed as damage per incident neutron or gamma-ray energy for any incident energy-angle dependent source. The MORSE multigroup, coupled neutron-gamma-ray Monte Carlo code was used to perform adjoint transport in current missile systems which were modeled with the combinatorial geometry package.
