Abstract:
Films of nine polymers are examined to determine any changes in their physical and mechanical properties after exposure to solutions of iodine and potassium iodide. The sorption and permeability of iodine for the films are measured at temperatures of 105 F and 140 F. These films are also analyzed by X- ray diffraction and by thermomechanical studies. The results are discussed in terms of differences in polymeric repeat units and in terms of crystallinity. Recommendations for future studies are included.
