Abstract:

Properties of muktiparticle spaces are investigated, which are common to diverse physical systems. Special emphasis is placed on the concept of independent particle motion and the mathematical tools relevant to its use. The concept of determinantal measure is introduced and discussed, and a procedure for calculating its space average is followed in some simple cases. Approximate methods for evaluating it in general are developed, studying combinational structural aspects of the single particle description. Generalized variational principles are briefly considered, and technical aspects of their application are qualitatively analyzed. Author
