Abstract:

Data on the eduction of relations from word pairs were obtained on 1500 word pairs and 10 relations, from 3486 high school students 10th through 12th grade in a large Southern metropolitan area school system. Data were obtained by presenting each respondent with a list of 150 word pairs and asking the respondent to indicate the word pairs containing a specified, defined relation e.g., class-member, similarityequivalence, opposite. Response differences between males and females, between whites and nonwhites, and between higher and lower social class groups were examined.
