The kinetics of the thermal decomposition of NF4AsF6 have been studied and interpreted in terms of an equilibrium dissociation, followed by irreversible decomposition of NF5. Matrix isolation techniques did not disclose the presence of NF5 in the decomposition products. Interpretation in terms of As2F11-0 was confirmed. Analysis of the products of decomposition of Cl2F asF6- by matrix isolation infrared spectroscopy disclosed only ClF and AsF5. Fluorination of BrO2 and BrO3BrO2 mixtures with O2F2 was studied. The reaction of CF3OOOCF3 with N2F4 produces CF3ONF2, CF3OOCF3 and various decomposition products. With CF3OOF, the first product to appear is NOF. The reaction of trifluoroacetaldehyde with N2O5 produced a new compound which is believed to be trifluoroperoxyacetyl nitrate, CF3COOONO2. It has been characterized by means of molecular weight, vapor pressure, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, and infrared spectroscopy.
