Abstract:

On the basis of experimental containerized shipping begun in 1966, Soyuzmorniiproyekt has devised a unified system of accounting for whereabouts and circulation of containers, and set up regulations aimed at cutting the time of return of containers. Containerized shipping effected reductions of expenses per net cargo ton of 61 in shipping glassware, 75 in shipping copper sulface, 56 in shipping televisions, and 40 in shipping spare auto parts. The shipping experiments include river and rail transport as well as sea. Author
