The purpose of this program was to demonstrate the feasibility of extending the Mini-Face-Pumped Laser FPL concept to use NdYAG as the laser material. The program is divided into 2 parts the experimental investigation of NdYAG Mini-FPL pump cavities, and the theoretical study of the possible application of the Mini-FPL concept to the low power, high efficiency mode of operation required for space communications. Design parameters were generated which are necessary for the construction of YAG Mini-FPLs with specific performances.
