Abstract:

As part of a systematic study of the ignition of solid propellants, a computer program was developed to compute the transport coefficients for a multicomponent, polyatomic, reacting gas system as functions of local temperature, pressure, density and molal concentrations as well as of molecular weights, enthalpies, specific heats, intermolecular potential-energy functions, and stochiometric coefficients for all chemical species present in the system. The formulae for the transport coefficients are based on Hischfelders extension of the Chapman-Enskog kinetic theory to multicomponent, polyatomic reacting gas mixtures. Lennard-Jones and Stockmayer potentials are used for the intermolecular potential functions of the molecules in the mixture. Author
