Abstract:

The report describes progress in 1 developing the NRL Code E-DEP-1 for energy deposition by heavy ions, 2 modifying the Manning and Pagett transport theory for the penetration of heavy ions near the surface, 3 an investigation of the total crosssection corresponding to the differential cross section of Lindhard, Nielsen, and Scharaff, 4 an investigation of the temperature dependence of nickel-ion damage in nickel, 5 a study of the flux dose rate effects for 2.8 MeV 58Ni irradiations of pure nickel, 6 studies of helium mobility in metals, 7 the cyclotron helium implantation facility, and 8 the effect of cyclotron implanted helium on the fatigue behavior and microstructure of 316 stainless steel at 650C.
