Abstract:

Naval Electronics Laboratory Center NELC has emulated a Walsh transform source encoder. This data compression technique has given three-to-one compression while maintaining good image fidelity. A digital frame capture unit DFCU is used to digitize images into a format suitable for processing on a digital computer. The encoder is emulated with a digital computer program that processes the digitized images. These processed images can then be displayed on the TV monitor of the DFCU for evaluation.
