Raman Study of Isothermal Devitrification Kinetics of NaPO3(gl).

A laser Raman spectroscopic method has been developed by which the increase in crystallinity of a devitrifying glass can be monitored continuously and isothermally, at the devitrification temperature without sample quenching, in a molecularly specific manner to yield high quality kinetic data on the glass-crystal transformation. Applied to the study of vitreous NaPO3ngl, the method has yielded continuous data which have been fit, by a non-linear least squares method, to an exponential equation.
