A study was made of various navigation configurations for use in satellites in earth orbit at high altitudes apogeeperigee average values greater than 5,000 nmi. A large number of orbitconfiguration combinations were examined of which a total of 54 were deemed sufficiently attractive for in-depth investigation. The study goals were primarily to determine convergence times and steady-state performances of attractive navigation configurations for use in various Air Force missions projected to the 1985 time period. The technique used was that of computer simulation of recursive filter techniques combined with appropriate analyses as required. Extensive results were obtained and presented in various statistical forms to lend credibility to their values. Modified author abstract
