Contributing to the improved quality of the 175mm gun tubes have been a elimination of chrome-plating of exceptionally high strength 175mm M113 material, b reduction of yield strength to effect significantly higher toughness, cimproving quality of forgings by Industry in reponse to markedly increased specification requirements, d design of a lower strength autofrettaged gun using forgings of improved quality.
