The paper traces the historical development of the Logistics Officer Program LOP since its inception in 1966 to the present date. It points out the strengths and weaknesses of the program in pursuit of its objective of identifiying and developing commissioned officers for assignment to important logistics positions throughout the DA and the DOD.
