The bibliographic survey updates DA PAM 550-3 which was published in September 1966 and endeavors to shed light on the internal and external events in the region during the intervening years. The survey emphasizes three main subjects 1 South Asia as a region 2 individual countries of South Asia e.g., India, Pakistan and 3 the strategic aspects of the Indian Ocean. The document includes nearly 1,000 abstracts selected from several thousand books, periodical articles, and documents, the great majority of which are located on the open shelves of The Army Library, The Adjutant Generals Office, Headquarters, Department of the Army, Pentagon.
