Abstract:
BoronAluminum composites containing 50 vo of 5.6 mil diameter B in two composite matrix materials 2024Al and 6061Al consolidated from commercially available and continuous rolled bonded CRB tapes, were evaluated in tensile, fatigue, compression, shear, torsion and rupture tests. Failure modes were delineated and an extensive number of salient observations were made. The information contained in the report will advance the state-of-the art in metal matrix composite, enhance the technology base and aid in future evaluation of failure responses in aluminum composites.
